When it comes to defining the term employee engagement a vast
number of opinions of various genres could be unearthed, however put simply it is the outcome of the two way relationship between the employer & employee out of which we could observe the degree to which an employee commits to the organization and their goals in a sustainable and enthusiastic manner simply
out of their desire & loyalty towards the organization.

“A positive attitude held by the employee towards the organization and its value. An engaged employee is aware of business context, and works with colleagues to improve performance within the job for the benefit of the organization. The organization must work to develop and nurture engagement, which requires a two-way relationship between employer and employee." (Robinson, 2004)
"Connect the dots between individual roles and the goals
of the organization. When people see that connection, they get a lot of energy
out of work. They feel the importance, dignity, and meaning in their
job." (Ken Blanchard and Scott Blanchard,
2021).
Factors effecting Employee Engagement.
When we consider
about the factors effecting employee engagement they could range from Work
environment, Organizational Culture, Attitude, Compensation &
fringe benefits, Management style, Nature of work, future aspirations or simply even
how they are treated & respected by the upper management. One of the
main factors which could affect the degree of employee engagement is the
organizations treatment towards them or in other words the value placed by the organization on the said employee & the belief in the
organizations values & goals as this will help them to be more engaged &
provide their maximum output to the organization.
Importance of Employee Engagement.
Employee engagement could be considered as one of the most integral aspects of effective Human Resource Management as it will help to make sure that the employees under their supervision are aligned with the organizational goals & also that the human resource of the organization is being used to their maximum potential which in turn will lead to higher profitability, productivity, customer satisfaction & greater brand image. The below quote given by the Mr. Jack Welch the former CEO of General Electric which is one of the largest multinational conglomerates in the world shows the importance of employee engagement for organizational growth.
"There are only three measurements that tell you nearly everything you need to know about your organization’s overall performance: employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and cash flow. It goes without saying that no company, small or large, can win over the long run without energized employees who believe in the mission and understand how to achieve it." (Welch)
Strategies for Employee Engagement.
When we discuss about the practical implementation of employee engagement a few strategies could be highlighted some of them are to start from day one & groom them up the hierarchy, start from the top & make sure that the upper management are on track with the organizational goals before making way below, maintain a clear enhanced two way communication so that any requirements or grievances could be discussed without discrimination, provide plenty of opportunities for training, growth & development, maintain a proper recognition & incentive mechanism so that so that employees feel valued.

In summery we could conclude that maintaining a healthy employee engagement regime is extremely important for any organization to stay ahead of the curve & reach the maximum productivity level, grow their presence & public image substantially, reduce staff turnovers, create a good repo between employer - employee & finally overall to maintain an extremely healthy & inviting workplace that any individual would be grateful to work in.

Employee engagement is the emotional commitment the employee has to the organization and its goals. When we say that, we can understand how important the mental behavior of the employee towards the organizational goals and objectives.
